Sherry holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the University of Waterloo and a Masters of Theological Studies (Pastoral Counselling) from the Waterloo Lutheran Seminary, Wilfrid Laurier University. She has also received Clinical training at Interfaith Family Counselling Centre and Lutherwood Family Counselling Centre. She is a member of the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists & Psychotherapists (OACCPP). As well she is involved in her community as a board member for the Eating Disorder Awareness Coalition of Waterloo Region and is active in her faith community. Along with her private counselling practice in Cambridge, she is employed with Community Justice Initiatives of Waterloo Region as the Coordinator of their Family Group Decision Making Program and is a contract counsellor for Emerge Canada. In the past she has worked with Lutherwood Family Counselling in the school based program, attending local secondary schools to counsel youth on site.
As a counsellor, Sherry specializes in supporting her clients as they struggle with issues and move toward personal development and life enrichment. She uses a variety of approaches tailored to individual needs that allow her clients to tackle obstacles, address concerns, and gain the control they desire in their lives.
Sherry has had a rich personal journey that has included both the highs and lows of life. She believes this adds to her ability to understand and help those in their life situations. In addition to her vocation as a therapist, she is a wife and mother of two adult daughters. |
